Grand Canyon Adds 2 More

Grand Canyon University wrestling Head Coach R.C. LaHaye officially announced his 2010-11 recruiting class on April 24. It includes two freshman and five transfers -- including two California junior-college champions and a national junior college runner-up -- who will join four student-athletes who signed in the fall.

It is an outstanding class, one worthy of a team that finished the 2009-10 season ranked No. 18 in the NCAA Division II National Wrestling Coaches Association poll, had four of its wrestlers qualify for the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships in Omaha, Neb. and produced its first two All-Americans in the program's three-year history.

Now LaHaye has done one better by adding two wrestlers, one a junior-college transfer and the other a freshman -- in upper weight classes.

Kameron Jackson is the junior-college transfer. The 197-pound native of South Haven, Mich. attended North Idaho College, where he was a National Junior College Athletic Association runner-up in 2010 and a two-time NJCAA All-American. He is joining another two-time NJCAA All-American from North Idaho College, Celic Bell, at GCU. Bell is part of the recruiting class announced last month.

Jackson was a two-time Michigan state champion in high school, as well as a Cadet All-American.

"Kameron has the ability to compete at the highest level of Division II," LaHaye said. "Last year, he had several solid wins over high-quality Division-I wrestlers. He also dominated at the national junior-college level for two years with a third- and second-place finish at the national tournament.

"Kameron adds some instant firepower to our upper weights."

The freshman is Peter Anquiano. A 285-pounder out of Franklin High School in Elk Grove, Calif., he was a National High School Coaches Association Senior National High School All-American, having finished in sixth place.

He also took third place in the California State Tournament, was a CIF Master's Champion and currently is ranked No. 19 in the nation by Wrestling USA Magazine.

"Peter is one of the best high school heavyweights in the nation right now," LaHaye said. "We believe that Peter can be the future for GCU at heavyweight."

There are many things that contribute to a happy and satisfied feeling about life, but excess stress can put a damper on even the best conditions. We see ourselves on a long nike air max 2010 trip that spans the continent. We are traveling by train. Out air max 2009 windows, we drink in the passing scene of cars on nearby highways. ZHC
