AZ Wrestler got to pick the brain of new Arizona State University Assistant Coach, Bryan Snyder about his new position, his view on ASU wrestling, his history in the sport and how he intends to help the Sun Devils get back to the highest level of success.

What do you find most rewarding-and most challenging-about being a collegiate coach that led you to taking this position?

I enjoy working together with others toward a common goal. I also enjoy working with a diverse number of individuals on a day-to-day basis. Its always rewarding to see individuals accomplish their goals, to see someone invest themselves in an endeavor and then succeed in that endeavor. This also is the challenge.

In short, to get student-athletes to believe in themselves in all aspects of life. In particular with wrestling, my approach is to challenge individuals to be the best they can be in terms of conditioning, technique, and mentality. I push an aggressive style that puts points on the board.
I've been involved in wrestling since I was 7 or 8 years old. I come from Easton, Pa, where wrestling is a part of the city's history. I had little choice in many ways. My dad, uncles, etc. all wrestled too.

I love the battle of wrestling. In many ways wrestling is an honorable sport, being able to step on the mat with another individual and battle it out. No excuses, no one else to blame.
Of course, the biggest being me losing the NCAA finals in double-overtime two years in a row.
In all aspects of life my family has been a great influence on me. My Dad has especially been there for me through all of my ups and downs in wrestling. He's a good man that I respect deeply.

I've had a number of coaches who have been very influential to me, and its hard to say who has been most influential since they have been with me at various points of my career. A short list: Tim Neumann, Steve Powell, Jason Kelber, Terry Brands, Shawn Charles, Mark Manning, Matt Lindland, Mark Cody. My goal is to help our individuals to reach and exceed their ability on and off the wrestling mat. My main goal for the Sun Devils is to wrestle hard, with a purpose and with pride and grit. If they do that, we will be very good.
Train hard, get good grades and seek out the best competition across the nation.
Come support their Sun Devils. We are going wrestle with a lot of fire and intensity. We need them to match that fire and intensity in the stands.
